We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to play a critical role in our growing Finance department. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will own and oversee the majority of the day-to-day accounting operations, manage the month-end close and financial reporting process, and provide leadership to the accounting team. This is a hands-on management role that requires deep operational accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Reporting

Oversee and manage all daily accounting operations, including, but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Revenue, Royalties and Payroll

Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion in accordance with U.S. GAAP

Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analysis for management and external stakeholders

Contribute to financial modeling and scenario analyses for forecasting, with a primary focus on balance sheet and cash flow projections

Manage and ensure compliance with all relevant state and local sales and use tax filing and reporting obligations

Collaborate on ERP system updates and other financial system improvements

Internal Controls

Maintain and improve the internal control environment over financial reporting and other functional processes

Coordinate and manage the annual review process, serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors

Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent and accurate financial data

Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting professionals

Manage team workload and priorities as well as foster a culture of accuracy, collaboration and continuous improvement

Partner cross-functionally with other department leaders to improve processes and provide financial data to support decision making

Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes and utilize the ERP and other financial systems more effectively
Qualifications:

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required

7-10 years of progressive experience in the accounting field, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory capacity

Demonstrated hands-on experience using an enterprise-level ERP system; experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud or similar is a strong plus

Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the proven ability to conduct technical accounting research

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)

Proven ability to manage a full-cycle month-end close process, produce financial statements and lead external reviews/audits

Preferred

Mix of Public Accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) and Private Industry experience is strongly preferred

Experience in the fashion, retail or consumer products industries is highly preferred
Benefits: The successful candidate will enjoy a compelling overall compensation package including base salary ranging from $150k - $180k based on experience, with strong potential for further growth.

Location/Travel Requirements: This position will be based at our headquarters at 12 Labriola Court, in Armonk, New York. Limited travel required.
