This year Holderness & Bourne were the proud suppliers of the official team apparel to the 24 players from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in the 137th University Golf Match. The Varsity Match, as it more commonly known, was first held in 1878 and is the oldest amateur team event in golf; and participating in it affords the players their ‘Blue’ and with it membership to the Oxford & Cambridge Golfing Society, the oldest society in the world.
This was the 24th playing of the event at the prestigious Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, itself a regular favourite on the Open Championship rotation. After three grueling days of play, Oxford emerged victorious in both the illustrious Dinner Match and the main event itself, by a margin of 9.5 - 5.5 after 36 holes of foursomes and then singles. The Road to Royal Lytham and the 138th edition of the match begins here.
